TenarisTamsa, Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), Dirección General de Normas (DGN), the International Standards Organization (ISO), Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) and the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) organised a workshop for professionals working in the oil & gas industry and standardisation organisations that make use of standards in their work.
This two days workshop was designed to provide professionals of oil & gas companies, national authorities, service providers, the supply industry and standardisation organisations with the opportunity to broaden their understanding of international standardisation and standards activities for this globally important sector.
The first day reviewed and discussed the international and national standardisation work, the role of these standardisation bodies in the ongoing international standardisation and the experiences within countries and regions of adopting such standards within the oil & gas sector, including the challenges facing international standards harmonisation.
The second day of the workshop focused on particular issues related to the standardisation, manufacture, quality control and application of tubular goods in order to improve the understanding of its use in the oil & gas industry.
Provide an overview of the international standardisation process with particular focus on the efforts/work and products arising out of ISO TC67 (materials, equipment and offshore structures for the petroleum and petrochemical industries) and review the challenges related to the production and adoption of international standards.
Provide an up to date overview on the importance and benefits of standardisation in the oil & gas industry and explore the activities and experiences of international, regional, national and company standardisation in this field and how Mexico can participate and influence the international standards.
Identify and define the oil & gas sector standardisation needs within the Mexican region and the role of international and industry standards in this regard.
Develop a clear picture on the benefits of adoption of global standards in countries and regions and identify the difficulties facing international standardisation and suggest effective solutions in this regard.
