International Standards Workshop
for the Global Oil & Gas Industry
in Eastern Europe

15-16 February 2007

Petrom, ASRO and the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) are organising this workshop for professionals working in the oil & gas industry and standardisation organisations that make use of standards in their work.

Objectives

This workshop is designed to provide professionals of oil & gas companies, national authorities, service providers, the supply industry and standardisation organisations with the opportunity to broaden their understanding of European and lnternational Standardisation and standards activities for this globally important sector, upstream and downstream.

The workshop will review and discuss the international, regional and national standardisation work, the role of the standardisation bodies in the ongoing standardisation and the experiences within countries and regions of adopting such standards within the oil & gas sector, including the challenges facing harmonisation with International Standards.

Key Benefits

  1. Provide an overview of the European and lnternational Standardization process with particular focus on the efforts, work and products arising out of CEN TC12 and IS0 TC67 that both focus on standards for materials, equipment and offshore structures for the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries, used both upstream and downstream.
  2. Provide an up to date overview on the importance and benefits of standardization in oil and gas industry and explore the activities and experiences of international, regional, national and company standardization in this field and how Romania and other Eastern European countries can participate and influence these standards.
  3. Identify and define the oil & gas sector standardization needs within the Romania and other Eastern European countries in view of new EU memberships and the role of international and inustry standards in this regard.
  4. Develop a clear picture on the benefits of adoption of global standards in countries and regions and identify the difficulties facing international standardization and suggest effective solutions in this regard.
