WASP is a study of the characteristics of swell off the coast of West Africa , based on measured and hindcast wave spectra. The main focus of the project has been to test various descriptions of the shape of the spectrum of swell, but many other features of the swell environment were also studied. Characteristics of the swell spectra in both frequency and direction have been established, together with their long-term variability along the West African coast.
